FSC Certification

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an organization promoting responsibility when it comes to the harvesting and management of forests all across the world. This non-profit organization, which is not affiliated with any government, develops and communicates forestry management standards. FSC Certification and standards are widely considered to be among the worlds most stringent. FSC gets much of its support from established environmental organizations including the, Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, Greenpeace, NRDC, Defenders of Wildlife, Earthjustice, and The Wilderness Society.

FSC standards include several forest management guidelines. These standards combine specific rules addressing how a forest and its constituents—flora, fauna, and human—are treated. Those who comply with the policies as they’re laid-out are doing those constituents a positive service, sustaining the forest and those that live off of it in a responsible, ethical way for years to come.

Companies and organizations voluntarily adhering to FSC standards can choose to have their forestlands certified. In order to obtain FSC certification, an organization must fulfill all the aforementioned, applicable guidelines. By creating a certification process that organizations want, FSC is able to positively influence logging practices around the world.

Though FSC certificates are considered incredibly valuable, FSC itself does not issue them. Rather, a host of certification bodies, independent of the FSC, assess applicants against FSC standards. It is through this independent assessment process that it is determined whether or not specific organizations are awarded FSC certification. This separation of power allows FSC to remain subjective and true to its intentions.

FSC certification allows for consumers to make environmentally sustainable choices when purchasing wood from retail lumber yards and home improvement stores.

Allweather Wood LLC  has made an on-going commitment to implement our best efforts to avoid trading and sourcing wood or wood fiber from illegally harvested wood, wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights, wood harvested in forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activities, wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non- forest use, and wood from forests in which genetically modified tress are planted.

Allweather Wood LLC. is honored to have obtained FSC certification. We take our policies of environmental stewardship very seriously. We consider FSC certification a badge of honor, as well as an affirmation of our forward-thinking, environmentally sustainable policies.
